International Counselling Connections (ICC)

. . . is a group of independent counsellors and psychologists, located primarily in the Netherlands, offering a wide range of approaches and experience to both the expat and Dutch communities. We provide counselling for adults and adolescents, as well as couples and families.

We recognize that students face unique challenges in adjusting to being in a new setting with difficult demands, sometimes far from home and family. We also realize that students are often operating on a tight budget, and, for this reason, we offer special student rates, which can be negotiated with your counsellor when you meet.

There are many reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy.
You might be . . .

    • having problems at work or with your family
    • experiencing relationship problems
    • feeling stressed and overwhelmed
    • struggling to adjust to life in the Netherlands
    • upset about having to move
    • unsure about changing careers or starting back to work after a long absence
    • grieving the loss of a loved one
    • coping with illness, disability, or addiction
    • concerned about your child struggling to adjust to a new school or upset about having to move away from friends and familiar places
    • or you might just want to learn more about yourself.

Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy, we are here to help.

Each of our counsellors offers a unique way of working, which means that the therapeutic process might be more person-centered or cognitive, or it might be based on a psychodynamic framework. Whatever the approach, you will be part of a nonjudgmental, empathic, respectful, and highly professional relationship.

Proficient in a range of languages (Dutch, English, German, and Greek,), our counsellors practice under the highest professional standards and follow the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

We have counselling rooms in Amsterdam, The Hague, Hilversum, and Leiden, where we are able to offer one-on-one counselling in a setting where your privacy is guaranteed.

ICC counsellors fully comply with the privacy requirements as set out under the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union.

How Does It Work?

We'll be in touch

Send an e-mail to info@icconnections.org. Our intake counsellor will be in touch with you as soon as possible—usually within a day—to ask some questions about your general background and reasons for seeking counselling at this time. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about us or our practice.

Within a week after your initial contact, one of our counsellors will be in touch to set up a time for your first session.
