Complaints Procedure (2025)
ICC therapists are registered with the Stichting voor Complementaire en Alternatieve Gezondheidszorg (SCAG), a foundation for complementary and alternative healthcare, and are subject to their complaints procedure. You can download a PDF copy of the SCAG brochure in English here).
A complaint might concern the treatment you have received from your therapist (for example, the quality of the treatment or the the way you have been treated), or it might be about an incorrect assessment by the therapist, damage caused by the treatment, or damaged/missing property.
Such issues often arise from simple misunderstandings or miscommunication and can be easily resolved. The first step is to discuss the problem with your counsellor, if possible. This might be difficult for you to do, but just try to explain how you feel. For some people, writing a note to your therapist can open the conversation.
If you have been unable to resolve the issue by yourself, the next step is to contact the complaints officer of the ABvC (klachten@abvc.nl), who will then contact you. The complaints officer is free and independent, and will usually be able to handle your complaint within six weeks.
If the efforts of the complaints officer or the manner in which your complaint
has been handled is not satisfactory, you can contact the Complementary Healthcare
Dispute Committee (GCG). This committee is independent of all parties and is specialized
in the area of complementary care. The Dispute Committee charges a fee of €52.50
for handling a complaint, and their decision is binding for both you and the therapist.
Sometimes the Commission decides to award damages. For more information, see the
GCG website.
